My BA thesis delves into the role of sketching in the artistic workflow, examining how it serves not just as an initial step, but also as a possible endpoint for creative expression.
Through interviews with artists from diverse disciplines, I explore how sketches shape their creative journey – from the first spontaneous marks to rough notes. The research questions whether designers revisit past sketches or how the chosen medium impacts their approach.
The result of the work is a book project that not only presents diverse perspectives on the importance of sketching in artistic practice but also highlights the artists’ approach to the creative process itself.
