BOCIAN LECĄCY O ZACHODZIE SŁOŃCA

The design was created as an iteration of Kanō Tsunenobu's woodblock print "Crane Flying under a Red Moon", originally painted on silk.

This print was prepared for the exhibition "Polish Views", which explored the topic of the visual transformation of the Polish socio-cultural landscape over the last three decades. My exhibit is intended to be a commentary on the Polish understanding of "exotic" motifs and their use out of context, for example in Polish homes.

To preserve the character of 18th century printing techniques, I was taking inspiration from the woodcut technique on washi paper. In my version, I used screen printing on parchment.
